چکیده

Whenever possible, at least one hundred mice of each sex of each of the fifteen strains were used (Table 1). The animals were accumulated slowly and the experiments extended over a period of two years (1942-45). One-tenth cc. of sesame oil containing 1 mg. of methylcholanthrene was injected into the right flank of all mice at the age of 60 ± 4 days. As a rule 5 to 8 mice were kept in a box and the sexes were separated in order to prevent breeding. However, in several instances before the sexes

The Inheritance of Susceptibility to Mice Tumors Induced in II. Tumors Induced by Methylcholanthrene in the Progeny of C3H and JK Mice*

Various inbred strains of mice show pronounced differences in susceptibility to carcinogenic agents. Previous experiments (2) with CBA, C3H , CHI, NH, and JK mice revealed that C3 H and JK mice were respectively most and least susceptible to tumors induced by subcutaneous injection of methylcholanthrene. The F1 progeny of the C3H and JK strains have been used in additional investigation of the ...

Karyotype of NIH, C57BL/6 and Razi strains of laboratory mice (Mus musculus)

The laboratory mouse is recognized as the pre-eminent model for genetic research. Awareness of chromosomal patterns of experimental animals increases their value for a variety of different fields of study. We aimed to study mitotic chromosome preparations from NIH, C57BL/6 and Razi strains of mice, which are outbred, inbred and partially inbred laboratory mice respectively. Bone marrow cells we...

Dose response and growth rates of subcutaneous tumors induced with 3-methylcholanthrene in mice and timing of tumor origin.

The dose response of tumor induction after single s.c. injections of 3-methylcholanthrene (MC) into the groin of mice and the growth rates of the tumors formed were examined. The dose-response curve of tumor induction appeared to be linear at low doses of MC. Analysis of 182 sarcomas produced between 50 and 400 days after MC injection into WB and C3H/He mice, together with previous data on ICR/...

The Mode of Action O F Methylcholanthrene on Cultures of Normal Tissues

The mode of action of carcinogenic agents is one of the most fundamental problems of cancer research. Available evidence clearly indicates that the potentiality of malignant transformation of any normal cell type is determined, in part at least, by hereditary factors. I t would seem reasonable, therefore, for the study of the mode of action of carcinogens, to select cell types possessing a favo...

Evaluation of different strain mice during in vitro fertilization and embryo development in response to superovulation

Background: Mice are the most commonly used animal in reproductive research and following the urgent need for these type of studies and also due to the increased interest in the ethical principle of animal rights, four various inbred and outbred strains of the laboratory mouse were evaluated to select the more efficient one for reproductive research. Materials and methods: 60 female and 16 mal...
